Tatiana Calderón has just been announced as part of the Richard Mille Racing Team, which will take part in the European Le Mans Series with an all-Woman line up for the first time in the history of the Series, with the goal of racing the 24Hours of Le Mans.
The owner of the recognized brand of watches and chairman of the FIA Endurance Commission, Richard Mille with the support of the Woman in Motorsport Commission, chaired by Michéle Muoton, has had the initiative to generate this opportunity considering there is greater female participation then ten years ago but opportunities in the best teams remain limited.
That’s why Richard Mille has launched an ambitious project to which he has linked the Signatech Team, led by Philippe Sinault, the current World Endurance Championship (WEC) title holders and 24 Hours of Le Mans winners.
The Team has done a thorough selection of drivers to form a competitive team, with the experienced Katherine Legge, with whom Tatiana already shared in the 24 Hours of Daytona last January, Sophia Floersch, Formula 3 driver, who returns to the competition after a terrible accident at Macau in 2018, and by Tatiana Calderón, who will combine her participation with the Japanese Super Formula.
Tatiana Calderón: “Having the opportunity to run in a program like this with a Team as professional as Signatech and with the Richard Mille support is incredible. I am very grateful to them for choosing me to be part of the Team and for putting at our disposal a leading team. It will be a great year, with many trips, but I will be driving more than any year before. As a driver, this is what you want most and this year venturing into endurance races and with a fast car like the LMP2 it will be a great challenge. After my experience at Daytona, sharing the car again with Katherine it will be very good as we understand each other so well. I am eager to start working with the Team.”
