Tatiana Calderón will switch her focus back to the GP3 Series for one final time this weekend in Abu Dhabi as she looks to conclude the 2018 campaign on a high.
It’s been a very busy few weeks for Tatiana, who since the previous GP3 round in Russia has sampled Formula 1 machinery twice as part of her test duties for the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team.
She made her first run in a grand prix car in a promotional run following the Mexican Grand Prix at the end of October, completing 23 laps at the wheel of the 2018-spec Sauber C37, before embarking on a two-day private test in a Sauber C32 at legendary Ferrari test track Fiorano last weekend.
In addition, Tatiana has visited the DS Techeetah team’s factory in France in preparation for her upcoming Formula E test appearance in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh in December.
Now the 25-year-old Colombian rising star turns her attention back to the GP3 Series for what will be the championship’s final race weekend in its current guise – before it is replaced next year by the new F3 International series – around the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi.
After scoring points in both races last time out in Sochi, which followed her best-ever GP3 result of sixth in the previous round in Monza, the momentum is firmly with Tatiana and her Jenzer Motorsport team as they seek to conclude what has been a positive second half of the season in style.
Tatiana Calderón: “It feels like ages since the last GP3 race, I think because so many things happened since the last race in Russia – my debut in a Formula 1 car in Mexico and then testing in Fiorano, which was an amazing experience. So I feel more than ready to go back to GP3 and put everything I’ve learnt into practice. We are coming from our best weekend of the season in Sochi, and Abu Dhabi is a track I know well, so I think we can keep doing a good job. Hopefully we can have our best weekend of the season and I look forward to racing with the soft compound tyre in the heat of Abu Dhabi.”
