TATIANA’S IMSA ADVENTURE CONTINUES AT WATKINS GLEN

Tatiana Calderón returns to IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar action this weekend as she tackles the third round of the season at the famous Watkins Glen International circuit.

The Colombian driver will be back in the cockpit of Gradient Racing’s #66 Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 for the first time since the 12 Hours of Sebring all the way back in March for the third of five rounds on the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup schedule.

A change in the line-up for Gradient since Sebring means Tatiana will be sharing driving duties with Sheena Monk and Stevan McAleer, who returns for the first time since Daytona.

Tatiana will be making her first-ever visit to Watkins Glen, often simply called just ‘The Glen’, a flowing road course in upstate New York that is perhaps most famous for being the host of the United States Grand Prix throughout the 1960s and 1970s.

The Colombian and her Gradient teammates once again face stiff competition in IMSA’s 21-car GTD class, but positive showings in both the Rolex 24 at Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring have given the team confidence that a strong result is possible.

The fact that both the Daytona and Sebring races ended with a DNF for the Gradient Acura only makes the team more determined to see the chequered flag and bag a result that reflects the hard work that has gone into the programme since the off-season.

Tatiana Calderón: “After a couple of busy months away from the track I can’t wait to be back in the car. I have been doing a lot of conferences, among those at Emerge Americas in April and now recently at the Congreso Iberoamericano Ceapi in Colombia, where I had the pleasure to share the stage with the talented Spanish footballer Alexia Putellas. Finally I can say again, it’s race week! It’s been a while since March and the 12 Hours of Sebring, so I can’t wait to get back to work with my teammates Sheena and Stevan. Watkins Glen is a new circuit for me. It seems very fast, flowing, quite old-school with a lot of history in Formula 1. It’s the start of the summer so it will be a tough challenge physically but I relish the chance to get back in the rhythm and aim for a good result after the potential we have shown in the last couple of races. We haven’t been able to show that with a result, so hopefully this will be the case at Watkins Glen.”
