TATIANA PREPARED TO FACE SPA CHALLENGE

Tatiana Calderón will be back in action for the second round of the 2020 European Le Mans Series at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit this weekend.

The Colombian driver will be looking to build on the valuable experience she gained during last month’s Paul Ricard season opener, in which she and her Richard Mille Racing teammate Andre Negrao finished a promising fifth in the team’s first race outing.

With regular teammate Katherine Legge still recovering from the injuries she sustained in a testing crash ahead of the Paul Ricard race, Tatiana will be joined in the cockpit of the #50 Oreca 07 LMP2 car this weekend by Andre Negrao and Beitske Visser.

Spa has always been one of Tatiana’s favourite circuits, the 27-year-old having raced there many times in European Formula 3, GP3 and Formula 2, although bitter memories of last year’s F2 round, during which Anthoine Hubert tragically died in a crash, are still fresh.

Hoping both to improve her speed in traffic and over a single lap, Tatiana, Andre Negrao and Beitske Visserwill be doing battle in an expanded 16-car LMP2 field at the head of a 40-car grid at Spa as they target another strong result for the nascent Richard Mille Racing team.

Tatiana Calderón: “I’m very much looking forward to getting back in the car after a great result in Paul Ricard in the circumstances. Of course we are going to miss Katherine this weekend but we have been keeping an eye on her progress and she’s doing better every day so we hope to have her back in the team as soon as possible. We keep pushing on our side to prepare for Le Mans as well as possible. I think Spa is a great circuit, particularly for a prototype with the downforce. I always enjoy driving at Spa even if there’s bad memories [from last year]. With the team every time we go on track, we understand each other more. For sure we will give our best to improve from Paul Ricard, especially in the traffic. Looking forward to the test day on Wednesday and the four-hour race at the weekend.”
