Tatiana Calderón will make her return to the FIA Formula E World Championship when she joins the Maserati MSG team for next month’s pre-season test at Valencia.
The Colombian will take to the track on November 7 at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo running at the wheel of the Maserati MSG’s latest-spec GEN3 EVO Formula E car as it prepares for the start of the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Tatiana is no stranger to Formula E machinery, having previously been part of the DS Techeetah team for two test appearances in the winter of 2018-19, one taking place in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh and the other in Marrakesh in Morocco.
These outings were with the GEN2 car that raced between 2018 and 2022, but the GEN3 EVO, which debuts in 2024, promises to be a major step forward in terms of performance.
The opportunity to return to the Formula E paddock comes as a result of an initiative by the organisers of the all-electric championship to set aside half a day of running during the Valencia test for female drivers to allow them more chances to show their potential.
Tatiana is hoping to make full use of this chance as she gets back behind the wheel of a single-seater in a public setting, while making a positive contribution to Maserati MSG’s preparations for the new season.
Tatiana Calderón: “I’m really excited to join Maserati MSG Racing and I’m already enjoying working with some very familiar faces that I have worked with previously. I drove the GEN2 car but the GEN3 EVO is a very different experience and the evolution of the car from Season 10 (GEN3) to Season 11 (GEN3 EVO) makes a significant difference from a performance perspective. Testing time in Formula E is so limited that each session has critical importance and I will do the best possible job for the team in Valencia to help them prepare for the season ahead. With one eye on the future, I also want to make the very most of this opportunity to show the team what I can do. I’m very proud that the team has shown this faith and trust in me and I can’t wait to get started in Valencia.”
