TATIANA CALDERÓN RETURNS TO FORMULA 2 EMPOWERED BY KAROL G

The Colombian driver returns to the Formula 1 feeder series thanks to support from Karol G.

This weekend Tatiana Calderón returns to the FIA Formula 2 Championship at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, the first of four events she will enter during the rest of her 2022 season.

This new opportunity for Tatiana has been made possible thanks to the support of Colombian singer-songwriter Karol G. The logos of the acclaimed international artist will appear on the Formula 2 car that Tatiana will drive at the Spa Francorchamps, Zandvoort, Monza and Yas Marina circuits between August and November, in a gesture of empowerment and as part of a call for support for the Colombian driver's career.

Karol G's support has already been joined by AVL RaceTech and Claro-Telcel, making it possible for Tatiana to return to competition after her IndyCar season was cut short.

In 2019 Tatiana became the first, and so far only woman to compete in the series she now rejoins alongside the Charouz Racing System squad, which gave her the chance to test an F2 car for the first time during the winter of 2018.

On Friday Tatiana will complete her first practice and qualifying sessions, starting her readjustment to the series where she last raced nearly three years ago. On Saturday she will start the 18-lap sprint race and on Sunday morning she will be on the grid for the 25-lap feature race, which previews the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix.

Tatiana Calderon: "I am very happy to be able to relaunch my season, but more than anything, to be able to do it thanks to the support of Karol G, who has given me the opportunity to continue racing, to continue dreaming. I am huge fan of her music, but beyondthat, of what she represents as a woman, of the path she continues to open empoweringwomen to fight for their dreams. From the bottom of my heart, thank you! Motorsport is one of the few sports where men and women can compete hand in hand if they give us the opportunities, which is what she is doing for my career, giving me this chance which we’ve been able to realize alsothanks to AVL RaceTech and Claro-Telcel. We need more women in racing, in motorsports, we need more inclusion and initiatives that really promote it. Returning to Formula 2 will allow me to continue to measure myself at a very high level alongside my new team Charouz Racing System, to whom I also have to thank for this opportunity."
