Tatiana Calderón’s plans for Race 3 at the legendary Nürburgring in Germany had been big today. The up-and-coming race driver from Colombia wanted to score for the first time this season. Last year, she came in 8th and 9th at the Nürburgring …
But this year it just wasn’t meant to be. A spinout in Race 3, after being tapped by Raoul Hyman, made her fall from P13 to P17. Not enough, Tatiana was off in the gravel after another encounter, this time with Alessio Lorandi in Round 10.
Nevertheless, Tatiana Calderón is a race driver who doesn’t look back. “Smile, no matter what they do, they can’t break you” is one of her mottoes and the 22-year-old can definitely build on Race 1 and 2 at the Nürburgring this weekend where she did a very good job, constantly gaining several places.
At the season finale middle of October, the Carlin team driver definitely wants to score to make up with this year’s FIA Formula 3 European Championship season.
Tatiana Calderón: “It’s been a frustrating weekend with some good and bad moments. Times were extremely close in qualifying and unfortunately we had to start in the middle of the pack in each of the 3 races. We always caught up, finishing P20 and P15 in the first two races and showing good pace which is positive. Race 3 was looking pretty good as we had a brand new set of tires and were running P13 early on with a lot of chances to move forward but I got hit from behind. Sometimes there are things you just cannot control, that’s racing and there was nothing I could do so I’m just looking forward to our next round. I want to finish the season on a high.“
