Calderon: Hockenheim Euro F3 season finale all about confidence

Tatiana Calderon heads into the final three races – Rounds 28, 29 and 30 – of her rookie FIA Formula 3 European Championship season at Germany’s Hockenheimring optimistic that she can end the year on a high (19-20 October).

The Colombian lady racer led Double R Racing’s attack in two of the three FIA F3 European Championship races held on the Hockenheimring in May.

Calderon also benefited from a productive test on the 4.75km-long circuit recently and will return to the German venue off the back of a positive outing on the Autodromo Vallelunga Piero Taruffi last weekend (12-13 October).

The 20-year old Double R Racing contender was nearer the front-running pace than ever, qualifying within eight tenths of the leaders and racing as high as 13th position in Italy and is justifiably optimistic as her rookie Euro F3 campaign reaches its climax.

“I think I showed I can be very strong at Autodromo Vallelunga and that gives me a lot of confidence going into the final races of the season at Hockenheim,” said Calderon. “I obviously want to finish strong and, while it’s a completely different challenge to Vallelunga, I know my way around Hockenheim and know where I need to improve. It’s going to be all about confidence and having a good qualifying. As usual, the weather will be tricky, but we’re prepared for everything and I’m really looking forward to it.”

FIA Formula 3 European Championship free practice one and two will kick off at 12.00 and 12.40 respectively on Friday (18 October), with qualifying from 16.25 that same day.

Rounds 28 and 29 will follow on Saturday (19 October), while Round 30 is due to begin at 11.00 on Sunday (20 October).
