Calderon completes official FIA European F3 test in Barcelona

Colombian F3 Racer Tatiana Calderon took to the track in the first of two official tests ahead of the FIA European F3 Championship at the Circuit of Cataluña in Barcelona this weekend and proved to all, including herself that she is not on the grid just to make up the numbers.

Looking assured from the outset and fresh from her Toyota Racing Series campaign in New Zealand over the winter she set competitive times from the first run and did not put a wheel wrong over the two days of track time.

Driving for the first time in the worlds premier F3 Championship and working with her new RR Racing team, she impressed her engineers and surprised her teammates with her technical ability and pace, lapping within a second of some of the favorites for the Championship, with a lot more in reserve.

Emerging from the car after completing 60 laps on the Grand Prix track Caderon was clearly delighted with the test, “ I am really happy with my performance and with the team,” said Tatiana.

”I had obvious nerves competing at this level, both for myself and my team, but I am totally satisfied that we both have what it takes and I’m so pleased that we are on the pace.”

Tatiana will complete a further two-day test in Monza next weekend ahead of the opening round of the Championship at the same venue the following weekend 23/24 March 2013.
