TATIANA SEVENTH IN THE SEASON FINALE AT BARCELONA

Tatiana Calderon end with a seventh place her participation in the European F3 Open 2012 on Sunday in the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain, finishing the championship in 9th place overall on her debut in Europe.

During Saturday qualyfing Tatiana end the session in 8th place. After keeping her starting position at the start of the race, Tatiana showed some good speed in order to move forward but unfortunately they made a incorrect choice with gearbox ratio which limited her options to gain some more positions as she had trouble maintaining contact with her rivals in the straigh line. She crossed the line in 8th place and score 8 more points to the drivers championship standings.

For Sunday , Tatiana worked alongside her team to adjust and correct some problems experienced in the race and as a result she did one of her best qualyfing sessions this year by ending 5th and being the fastest car of Emilio de Villota’s team.

From this starting position, Tatiana lost some places in the first corner as the track was slighly wet an everyone was using slicks tires. After a Safety Car situation Tatiana manage to come forward again, runung in the 5th position before another neutralisation. Once the track was green again Tatiana moved to the 4th place in lap 10 until she went off track in turn 5 which relagate her to the 11th place where she once again showed great speed to finished the race in the 7th position.

The points scored during the 16 rounds of the championship left Tatiana, the only women in the main class, into the top 10, where the champion was Niccolo Schiro from RP Motorsport.

Next up for Tatiana will be the 6 hours of Bogota in Colombia, where she will race the Kia Picanto Number 17 with her sister Paula, who was the runner up in this championship.

Tatiana says: “On Sunday we probably missed what could have been our best result of the season. I did a great qualyfing, I was the fastest of the team and was really happy with my performance. I really think the level raise this weekend .”

“After our 8th place finished yesterday , Sundays race was a much more complicated race as it started to rain just before the green flag, the track was changing alot an right when I was running 4th I showed probably to much of an enthusiasm and went off track. I was running on a good pace and manage to overtake some people to finished 7th. I didnt wanted the race to end and really enjoy every lap.”

“I am extremly happy with the progress we made during this 2012 season, the two results I would stand out more for me are the 4th place in Hungary and my qualyfing session this weekend . I have a lot to learn and I am really looking forward to the 2013 season which I hope will be here in Europe”
